London Plane Class
Welcome to London Plane and Year 6. In London Plane we work through our topics covering the full range of curriculum areas, exploring links and providing the pupils with opportunities to really extend and develop their skills.
This year our topics are:
Attack – History and Geography focus
The Earth in Space – Science Focus
Early Civilisations – History and Geography focus
Year 6 is a very special time in a child’s school career as it is the last one in Primary School. We endeavour to ensure the children in our class are encouraged to develop their independence and to take personal responsibility for their own learning and development. They will be encouraged to take new roles and responsibilities like House Captains, supporting assemblies, librarians as well as being role models for younger children in the school.
We also foster behaviours for learning, such as resilience, resourcefulness, teamwork, reflection and respect. These behaviours develop a readiness for learning and are skills the children will draw on throughout their lives.
The children will plan, discuss, do and evaluate a range of activities, through the broad and balanced curriculum we offer. We want the children to develop a healthy work ethic, achieving all they can in a calm, purposeful classroom where they are motivated, enthusiastic and keen to produce the best work that they can.
We enjoy using our outdoor environment to inspire our work in a range of subjects.
This year our residential trip is to France to explore aspects of World War 2.
