Sport at Chidham

Sports at Chidham have grown hugely over the past year, thanks to the addition of our very own minibus.  We have weekly sports fixtures and provide fantastic opportunities for sport both competitive or not!  We report on our sporting fixtures weekly and award house points for all sporting participation.

For starters, we have a budding football and netball team at Chidham Primary School who play regular tournaments against the local schools.

Winter football has been very successful with the school team reaching the Sussex Small Schools Final.

County Finals Football 2016

Our netball teams are fantastic – we have weekly practices and have enjoyed winning some great matches this year.

And representing the school in the Chichester Area finals!

We have competed against the Chichester Schools in Indoor Athletics – we worked really hard as a team and came 3rd against some great schools.

In table tennis we have even beaten some KS3 teams!  We for the last two years we have taken part in the county finals.  All the practicing we do at lunch time really helps our play.

A new sport this year has been hockey.  We quickly learnt the rules and enjoyed playing on astro during the winter months.  We didn’t end up with too many bruises while playing in the Havant League.

We have travelled to Eastbourne in the summer to watch some international tennis and have a go at some fantastic tennis coaching!

National School Sports week is always a highlight of our year.  We enjoy taking part in new sports, teaching others new skills and watching professionals.  We even invited a horse rider to visit our field and demonstrate some show jumping.

Sports Day concluded a wonderful week of sporting events in conjunction with National School Sports Week.  Children were fortunate to take part in cricket, football, table tennis, badminton and dance before taking part in a traditional competative sports day.

Racing is highly competitive – with eggs and spoons flying everywhere!  The sporting commitment from the children was greatly commended – let’s hope for another successful week next year.
